Training Update

2nd September 2017
From doing 16 lengths in 16 minutes (2 weeks ago), the swimming has come together this week, and I am now down to 12'19" for the 16 lengths (yesterday's time). Hopefully, the improvement will continue, and I'll be able to do around 11 mins... Only slight problem with this is that in the Tri I am setting off with the '14 minuters' on the swim, so some overtaking may be in order. Running has been off the agenda this week however thanks to a really tough run in Lanhydrock when on holiday - I strained a calf muscle slightly (not badly) so I am in conservation mode at the moment. However, I think it's pretty much fixed now, so I'll do a tester run mid week to check it out.

How the training is going

17th August 2017
Liz: "So how's the swimming training going?" J: "Sorted out my arms and breathing, but William tells me my legs are all over the place" Liz: "So William follows you tweaking your technique?" J: "Yes, he's streamlined enough to be able to follow me and watch what I'm up to and pass on his swim technique knowledge" J: "Nice to do a bit of open water swimming on holiday too"

Training so far...

8th August 2017
With just over 1 month to go swimming training has started with a vengeance. This morning I did 21 lengths of St Annes pool (I need to do 16 for the race), and although it went ok I had to have a few breathers. I am planning on going most days now until the race... Running - I do once or twice weekly runs, 8-10Km. Did 8km yesterday in 39 mins (7:48 min miles on average), and my times vary between 38-40 mins for 8km, so I am quite happy with that. I think I can push it faster for 5km...
